MEAT FOR FRANCE. AMENDED REGULATIONS. Per Press Association. Wellington, November 20. The Agricultural Department advises that the following notification appeared in the Board of Trade Journal on August 13th: The French Journal (official) for 3rd August contains a Presidential decree which provides that the decree of 1888 relative to admission into .Franco of fresh meat imported from foreign countries shall he modified to read as follows : “Importers of fresh, chilled or frozen meat from cattle or swine shall ‘present for importation complete carcases, either entire or cut up into halves or quarters, according to the . usage of the trade. The Customs duties on frozen meat imported into France has been temporarily suspended.” . DEATH ON A NEW ZEALAND TROOPSHIP. Dunedin, Novomoor 20. Advice has. been received the death of Lieutenant Webb, a member of the expeditionary force now on the way to Europe. Deceased was attached to the Wellington infantry as one of the medical corps! Deatii was due to injuries accidentally Received. Deceased was the son of Herbert Webb, a solicitor of Dunedin, and recently graduated at the Otago University. TROOPERS IN COLLISION. Timaru, November 20. A curious accident happened this evening to two fcroopws of the Bth Regiment (200 of whoa, are now in camp). A number of men were exercising horses on Carol l no Bay sands, when two horses going fast in oppo posite directions had a head-to-head collision. Both broke their necks, and died immediately. Trooper Turnbull, of Rakaia, was taken to the hospital, rather seriously injured. The other was but little hurt.

BELGIAN RELIEF FUND. Foxton, November 20. A floral carnival and queen competition in aid of the Belgian Relief Fund realised nearly £4OO. The voting for the Juvenile, queen alona accounted for £lßl. The carnival was the biggest affair of its kind yet held locally. Wanganui, November 20. In order to raise funds for the Belgian Relief Fund, the ladies connected with the St. John Ambulance ran a refreshment kiosk, lolly stalls, and a quick lunch counter at tho show yesterday ami to-day. With the assistance of an auction sale, they succeeded in netting about £450.
