STRATFORD SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The monthly meeting of the Stratford School Committee was hold last night, when there were present :- Messrs P. Skoglund (chairman), R. Jackson. \V. MacDonald, T. Lawsun, i.l. Sanderson, E. W. Hancock, G. Smart, and J. W. McMillan. Mr Cramer sent an apology for absence. INSPECTORS' REPORT. The following are extracts from the Inspectors' report:— Marks allotted'in connection with the beautifying of the school grounds and the supervision of the premises, etc :
Notes to he laid before the committee:— Standard VI, roll 48, J. W. Thomas: This class has been taught'in a very efficient manner. Standard V, roll -10, S. W. Dyson: This class passed an examination ranging from very satisfactory to good. Standard IV, roll 6(5, L. Hart: This was a particularly strong class, the work ranging from very good to »x----cellcnt. Standard 111, roll , 78, L. Buchler: This class has received a very good trainingStandard 11, roll 88, S. Hogg and pupil teacher: This class made a very creditable appearance' at the examination. ~ • Standard I, roll 68, E. Pearce and pupil teacher: This class passed an examination ranging from very good to excellent. A motion of thanks was passed to the teachers on the excellent report of the examiners.
HEADMASTER'S REPORT
The Headmaster (Mr F. A. Tyrer) reported: I understand that the inspectors' report on the work of the school is to crime in by the 6.30 train. If it arrives I shall send it on to you, so that from it you can' estimate the condition of the school. The Public Service examination' Will begin throughout New Zealand to-morrow. According to our schedules 71 candidates from various parts of Tarrnaki are to sit for this and for the Board's Senior Scholarship examination at the Stratford centre—a very convenient one for this purpose, as the examinees may come in and return to their homes by train each day. The matriculation and University, examinations are to begin on December 2nd, and the fact that 41 candidates to sit for examination at Stratford is another appreciation of the convenient central position of our The floor of the courtyard in our infant room is breaking up rapidly. We have decided to hold our annual concert on December 16th. GENERAL. Mr McMillan reported that the drum and fife band was 'coming on well. The Visiting Committee reported that they had nothing to bring before the Committee. The Education Board notified the payment of £lB Is Id, subsidy on voluntary contributions.
