TURKS DEFEATED BY RUSSIANS.
[United Pbess Association,] (Received 8.45 a.m.) Petrograd, November 17. A communique states that the Russians defeated the Turks and Kurds at Klytchgadue Pass and Khamur. The Turkish attacks on the Russian posts in the Black Sea failed owing to a flanking fire from the Russian warships, in which the Turks lost heavily.
TURKISH LOSSES IN THE DARDANELLES.
Athens, November 17
The Turkish losses in the bombardment of the Dardanelles was 250 men and two guns. The Goebeh and Breslau have re-entered the Bosphorous.
ARABS AND FRONTIER TRIBES SUPPORT RUSSIA. (Received 9.40 a.m.) Petrograd, November 17. Several thousand Arabs at Diaroekir have taken the field against Turkey, and it is reported that various frontier tribes, opposite Urmia lave declared on the side of Russia.
Diarbekir.—Town on Tigris River, Asiatic Turkey. The ancient Amida. It has old walls, gates and citadel, and there is. a great mosque and many palatial ruins. Population 25,000. Tt is in a stock-raising and fertile agricultural district. Urmia (or TTrumiyah or Urumioh). — Fortified town, North Persia, It lies close to the frontier between Turkey and Persia. Population 25,000. Tt is the reputed birthplace of Zoroaster. GENERAL. . Athens, November 10. A report states that the Russian -fleet's bombardment rendered the Turkish coal mines at Sangiadak unworkable. This will be a serious mutter for the Turkish nary and railways, as these are the only coal mines in the country.
