The Emden' was enabled to sink the Troilus through a wireless message sent by a German merchant at Kobe who has been arrested. SEIZURE OF COAL FOR THE ENEMY. OPERATIONS IN THE PACIFIC. The Sonoma brings news that the Lowther Range, coal laden from Newcastle to Mexico, was seized by a, British cruiser off Guaymas, in the Gulf of California, on October 11th, and taken to Esquimalt, a British naval station on the south-east of Vancouver. The passengers state there was much friction at San Francisco owing to German sympathisers shipping, coal to Mexico and transferring to scows for coaling the German cruisers. THE SYDNEY’S EXPLOIT.
