TENNIS AT TARIKI.
(From a Correspondent.) The Tariki Tennis Club’s annual meeting was held in the Public Hall on Tuesday, evening. Quite a number attended, and showed a keen spirit to make this year a successful one. Jt was remarked that the court being recently re-tarred and in such good condition, all ought to make the best of it, as it was the only sport we had in Tariki. It was hoped for the social as well as the physical benolit that all members would do their best this year. It was to bo regretted that the finances were on the debit side, but an increase of subscription was' unanimously agreed to, and with the addition of more members the finances would soon be put on 11 10 right side. The opening day was fixed for Saturday next, November 11th, when a match East versus West was to be played. The Club will be very pleased to arrange matches and ladies’ games to be indulged in, and special encouragement to the juniors' will be given as well.- Miss McGregor, as secretary, will be very pleased to receive any names of those who would wish to play matches with Tariki. Officers elected are as follows —President, W. Rudkin; vicepresidents, Messrs C. Young, C. M. Young, Willans, Hair, J. Therkleson, I'. Therkleson, Williams, D. Jones, H. Eason; committee, all present this includes Mesdamos J’ones-Jomi-sou, McElroy, Misses Coutts, Therkleson, Riley and Mase; secretary and treasurer, Miss McGregor; captain, MrMcElroy; auditor, Mr Jemison.
