The arrangements for the engagement and .allocation of inch required on the wharf at Dunedin and Port Chalmers have since work was resumed after the strike practically been under the control of a small committee appointed by the Commerce Protection Committee. The scheme has, it is claimed, worked most satisfactorily and in the interests of ail concerned, and the general conditions on the wharves are most satisfactory. At a meeting helcl yesterday of representatives of shipping Companies and other employers of labor the position was fully discussed, and it was unanimously decided that the Committee should continue in office to deal with any disputes or corriplaints that might arise, and at the end of the present year each shipping company would make its own arrangements in regard to engaging men.
