SUCCESSFUL OPERATIONS IN
London, November 8.
Official.—A successful operation 1 against F a 9at the mouth of thq Shatt§ls J rab, in the Persian Gulf, was conducted, by an Indian military force covered by the Odin, an armed launch of the Sirdar, a pinnace from the Ocean Marines, and a maxim gun. The enemy's guns were silenced after an hour's resistance and the town was occupied by troops. There were no naval casualties. It is expected there will be no further opposition below. THE STEAMER REMBRANDT. AFIRE IN MID-OCEAN WITH CARGO OF HORSES. ' (Received 1 p.m.) New York, November 9. The Sayville wireless station reports an "5.0.5." call from the steamer Rembrandt, which is afire in midocean. The Rembrandt sailed froru Baltimore- on Saturday hound for St. Anzaire, France, with 500 horses aboard intended for the French army.
