A KITCHENER SPEECH.
MORE AND STILL MORE RE-
CRUITS.
United Press Association. (Received 1.45 p.m.) London, November 9
There was a brilliant assemblage at the Lord Mayor's banquet in the Guildhall. Lord Kitchener, responding for the Army, paid a tribute to the Allies; also to the London Scottish and the Indians. He,said the Empire was fighting for its existence >and wanted every citizen to understand this cardinal fact, that only from a clear conception of the importance of the issue could there come a great national and moral impulse. The country might well be proud of its recruits, but they wanted more and still more until the enemy was crushed. The enemy also ihust reckon on the overseas forces, the vanguard of which has already been welcomed. Besides these there were now one and a-quarter million men training in Britain.
