COUNTY ELECTIONS.
THE NOMINATIONS. Nominations closed yesterday for the Stratford County Council general election which.' lakes place on November 11th. There will be elections in the North, South and East Ridings (each returning two members), but the nominations, in the West and Maugaehu Riding merely suffice to fill the vacancies. Five persons are required to represent the Council on the Hospital Board and two will have to be appointed later by the Oouueil. Following are details of the nominations :
North Riding.—Lowry Baskin, no--inmated by W. Mountford and G. P. Harkness; Wm. Hathaway—W. McCracken, J. Gibson, G. C. Knox and A. W. Agent; William Rogers—J. ltobson, J. Brookes, E. F. Browning and R. A. Belcher; William Skedgwell—A. Wright and C. H. Vince. South Riding—John Christoffel—J. Thomson and T. R. Orr; Thomas Edward Coleman—G. M. Brown and A. 1). Walker; Henry Donald Forsyth— R. Sbuttleworth, F. J. Mehrtens, and W. Walsh; Xavier Jones—Wm. Morrison, T. E. Coleman, A. E. Wickham and R. MoK. Morison.
East Riding-—Nicholas B. Fryday— G. Saugster and W. Huzzifr; Edward Walter—E. Hine, J. L. Lucena, E. Marfell and A. Corkill; William Henry Wore—A. Corkill and E. Marfell.

Mangaehu Riding.--Henry Bonjainin Worthiiigton—J. E. Young and Charles Watchorn.
Hospital and Charitable Aid Board. —Edgar Hine—J. L. Lucena and W. H. Were; Robert McKinney Morison—A. E. Wickham, N. H. Hollard, T. E. Coleman and X. Jones; Edward Walter—E. Marfell and A. Corkill. TARANAKI. Moa Riding—J as. 0. Taylor, J. Brown, A. E. Laurence, R. T. Williams, R, Stevens, J. A. Bridgeman. Waitara Riding—G. M. Longstaff, J. R. Hill, J. Andrews. Mangorei Riding—A. Morton. Omata Riding—D. McAilum. Okato Riding—W. limine, C. Andrews, P. F. Raill, G. A. Adlam. There-, will be elections, therefore, in the Moa Riding, where three representatives are required; in the Waitara Riding, where two representatives are required; and in the Okato Riding, where two representatives aro required. In the Mangorei and Omata Ridings there is no opposition to the present members, Messrs A. .Morton and D. McAilum respectively. ELTHAM. Messrs Belcher and Granville will represent the Eltham Riding, and A. McWilliam the Omoua Riding. Contests will take place I'or the Kaponga Riding (2) for which Messrs Black, Messana and O'Neill have been nominated. The Maiigatoki Riding has four candidates for the three vacancies, Messrs Gilford, McGuinness, "Preece and Pease. The chairman of the Council, Mr J. T. Quill, will be opposed by Mr A. L. Campbell, in the South Riding. PATCA. Waverlcy Riding (four seats) —Wm. G. Helton, Harold Dickie, Wm. A/ Spicer, Alfred S. Symos, .James Walker. Otoia Riding (lour seats)—S. Blake, Joseph P. Death, Jas. Gibbs, Leslie HaTiierton, G. V. IVarce, M.P. Kapara Riding (one scat) —E. H. Greagcr, I). H. Sexton. Of the old councillors, Messrs Wm. Kennedy, K, H. Cave and Coombe are not seeking re-election. HAV/ERA. Hawcra Riding -J. B. Murdoch, Robt. .1. Linn. Mokoia—C. J. Hawken. Mereniei'c—J. Dunlop. Araratjt—T. A. Winks, C. C. Tarrant.

Mr Goodlahd, who has boon chairman for many years;, has retired, and Mr Linn has been nominated for this vacancy. - This was the only new nomination, and no election will he necessary. EQMONT. Opunake W. C. Dudley. Taranaki Hospital and Charitable Aid Board (two seats)—-M. ,1. MacReynolds, E. Maxwell. Apparently Messrs Farquhar and Burgess are not seeking re-election. The country chairman, Mr Dudley, has been returned unopposed, but elections will lie necessary in the other two-ridings, where there aro a number of aspirants for the seats on the Council.
