A copy of Rabaul's first English, official Gazette has arrived, dated Oo tober loth. It contains in aocouftt of the achievements of the expeditiom, local events, new appointments, and wireless news of European events. Upon occupation the troops found a quantity of German stamps, and tbeti* were coverted into English by endorsing the Royal initials G.R.1., and altering the values accordingly. T&« new Government Gazette says it ?t deemed advisable to retain the services of some of the previous German officials who duly subscrbod to the oath of neutrality.
