WHANGAMOMONA COUNTY COUNCIL.

COUNCIL’S MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Whaugamomona County Council was hold oil Tuesday when there wore present: Crs, A. Meredith (chairman), \V. A. McCutchan, W. Bacon, It. B. Hoberton. A. it. Cleland, T. 11. Mounsey and A. Coyne. The Engineer was authorised to engage teams and men for the purpose of working the road grader. Application is to bo made to the Public Works Department for 25yds oil metal to repair damage done by the tramway to Mangaowata Hoad and also to widen the hlimg below the metalling. A motion was passed asking the clerk to draw the attention of the now Council to the necessity of adopting public health by-laws. The owner of a building on Ohura Hoad, recently purchased, is to be asked to remove same. A letter from H. Woisin regarding work on Mangarewa Hoad was held over till next mooting. It was decided that the chairman and engineer interview the engineer and lay before him the unsatisfactory condition of the road deviations on the Ohura Hoad between Whangamomona and the head of the railway construction works, and endeavor to have same rectified. Foremen are to be notified not to light fires on roadsides where they are likely to spread, without consulting the engineer. It was decided to establish a voting booth for the Strathmore and Central Hiding at Tahunaroa. The grazing of the pound paddock was granted to W. Hodge. Owing to the impossibility of procuring a poundkeepor, it was decided to close the Kohuratahi pound, and to notify the rangers accordingly. I
