Official.—The Russians inflicted a series of defeats on the German rearguards who were attempting to retain positions along the rivers Hawks- and Skierniewka and Kylka. ibe Russians by means of bayonet attacks occupied Loiviez, Skierniewez and Rawa. Tlio Anstro-Germans retreating towards Radom have been reinforced, and are stubbornly resisting the Russian progress. The fighing- here has assumed considerable dimensions. The Russians have captured prisoners, -Maxims, and other guns. Hard fighting continues on the San south of Przernysl, where the Austrian attempts to “belt” the Russian Hank were repulsed with heavy losses. An Austrian column descended the Carpathians towards Dolma, and were defeated and dispersed. RUSSIAN ORGANISATION. Official: Professor Pari set, the historian, who is the authorised correspondent at Russian Headquarters, furnishes a report on his observations in Austrian territory conquered by Russians. He states that the Russians are extending the broad gauge railway into Galicia, and are also connecting the Austrian lines. Many Axlstrian wounded have expressed surprise at their treatment, and the satisfactory arrangements for dealing with all the wounded. The towns are quiet under the new rule. Only limited damage has been done by the artillery, and the general position is a. credit to the Russians, and gives ample proof of their close kinship vvitli the great majority of the conquered population. The Russians are pursuing the enemy beyond the Vistula. Brilliant bayonet ('barges in the forests of Radorn resulted in machine guns being captured and prisoners taken. At Voeg, near Stry, the enemy were dispersed, and a thousand prisoners taken.
