At Newton King's sale of wool, hides skins and tallow, held on Tuesday, prices showed a decided advance all round under very keen competition. Crutchings advanced 2d to 2jd per lb, whilst this season's fleece opened at per lb. Sheepskins are practical!} within a farthing of the values ruling before the war, and showed a rise of ■lid to 2d on last sales' prices. The tallow market has brightened up and prices show an advance of £2 10s to £3 10s per ton. Hides continued on the upward tendency, all classes showing an increase of £d to one penny per lb. Competition for calfskins continued very strong, prices with the exception of "specials" showing an advance of id to one penny per pound. Of a total catalogue of 5,346 calfskins, there were sold: Sound lines 91, at Is 2d; 284 at Is 1R 898 at Is Id, 1332 at Is id, 113 at Is, 939 at lljd, 954 at lH~d, 69 at lid, 125 at Od, 63 at 9|d, 184 at 9id, and 40 at 9id'per lb.
