THE TALUNE IN THE DANCER ZONE.
IPia Pbibb AasoouTioN.] 'Auckland, October 22.
The Talune arrived from the eastern Pacific this, morning. On one occasion she had a narrow escape from meeting the enemy's cruiser. A German warship called at the island in the Society Group at which the Talune was due and made inquiries when the Talune was expected. The information imparted was not quite accurate with the result that the Taluae never came within the danger area. The Talune arrived at Raratonga on September 29th, and was due at Raratea on October 3rd. On the night of October 2nd the wireless operator intercepted communicsi ions between the German cruisers within a hundred miles radius. The Talune doubled back to Raratonga at top speed. Subsequently the Talune completed her usual itinerary without incident.
