VILLA MAKES PROTEST.
General Francisco Villa, the Mexican bandit leader, whose methods during the recent war were severely criticised, recently telegraphed from, Arizona, earnestly protesting 'against German brutality:— "Comparison of my methods of warfare in 'Mexico," says General Villa, "to the dropping of bombs upon a sleeping city and the killing of non-combatants, is like tire execution of criminals condemned by law compared to premeditated murder when the rival is killed while asleep. The demand of money from those who robbed Mexicans of their patrimony for their exclusive personal use as compared to the extortion of 40,000,000 dollars by Germany from her feeble neighbours who were defending their homes and country is like a man who stops a thief who, has looted ins home and demands a return of a small portion of his booty, to the thief 1 himself. The Kaiser's ideas of war are not Mexican ideas. If the Kaiser's methods are right and I am wrong, then I say, with General Sherman, 'that war is hell.'" .
