Times and Sydney Sun Services. (Received 8.0 a.m.) . London, October 20. General Hertzog’s* failure to condemn Maritz and range himself definitely witfi the Government has excited general disgust.
MARITZ REBELLION.
CAPTURE AND SURRENDER OF
OFFICERS AND MEN.
United Press ‘Association. (Received 9.35 a.m.) Capetown, October 20. A British column captured three of Maritz’s officers and seventy men. , Four officers and forty men voluntarily surrendered, and volunteered for service with the Union forces. Many others announce a similar intention . It is reported that Maritz has quarrelled with the Germans, who complain of inaction.
