N..EWTGN KING'S WEEKLY REPORT.

On Friday, 9th inst., at my Waiwakaiho yards I had a full yarding, all accommodation being fully taxed. The quality and condition of the cattle throughout was ragged, prices, however, being well maintained, a good clearance being made as follows: — Yearling steers to £2 9s to £3 us, Jerseys £1 7s to £1 14s 6d, Jersey yearling heifers £2 8s 6d to £2 19s, good Shorthorns up to £2 8s 6d, smaller heifers £1 6s to £1 18s, empty 20-month heifers £2 19s to £3 10s, heavy fat cows up to £9 16s, forward and fat cows £5 3s to £6 18s - 6d, store cows (good) £3 19s to £5, smaller cows £3 3s to £3 10s, very small framed cows and low in condition £1 12s to £2 13s, 2-year springing heifers £4 10s to £6 7s 6d, very small heifers (hard of sale) £3 os to £4, 3-year springing heifers £6 2s 6d to £7 ss, dairy cows £5 to £7 os, empty ewes 18s 6d, hoggets 12s 8d to 15s Bd.

On Monday 12th inst. at Douglas, for my monthly sale, I had a full yarding, most of which I was able to clear, as follows:—Empty heifers £3 3s to £3 lis, yearling heifers (best) £2 10s 6d to £2 17s 6d, good up to £2 6s, others £1 2s to £1 16s Cd* yearling steers £2 2s to £3 7s 6d, mixed yearlings £1 19s 6d, store cows £3 6s to £4 18s, forward cows £5 6s to £6 3s, nedieree Jersey bull 14gns, grade hulls £7 to £7 10s, cows and calves £4 17s 6d, springing heifers £6 to £6 10s, small £3 10s, dairy cows £7 ss, and a fine line of 600 hoggets were sold under keen competition at 17s Id.

At Stratford on Tuesday I had a. good entry of all classes, there being a good demand, prices showing an advance right through the sale. Yearling steers were enquired for niost, those yarded selling very rapidly. Excellent prices are offering for store and forward cows at present, making a good opportunity for dairymen ito rid themselves of unprofitable dairy cows and replace with heifers. Prices obtained were: Empty 2-year heifers £3 2s to £3 15s, yearling heifers at from £2 2s to £2 i?s for -well grown, and £1 8s "to £1 19s for smaller, yearling to 15-month steers (rough) U 4s to £4 9s, fat cows £7 10s, heavy forward cows £5 6s to £6, lis, good store cows £1 3s to £4 18s 6d, smaller framed cows £3 4s. to. £3. 18s, bulls £5 10s, empty ewes 18s'Dd,'? ewes and lambs £L Bs, eullewes.'llß'3d. In tlie dairy yards all pens were full, and -although I. had no very choice neifers to offer, there were a good nuui 'jer showing fair quality, but in most oases the heifers, were on the Mna!! side. Best heifers sold up to £8 10s, other good sorts £5 5s to £6 15;, small heifers £3 to £4 17s .6d,. ''fairy cop £3 10s to £5 12s 6d. the 81 springers sold averaging £5 ]os 9d. On Wednesday, 14th 'list., for my spring cattle fair at Stony River, 1 had an entry of fully li'oo head of stock, a big proportion being firstclass cattle,' reflecting much credit on the vendors and '!',e coast generally. Buyers were present fi'V'i all parts of Taranaki, making keen competition for all lines offeied. For my annual bull fair at tbe Waiwakaiho yards on Thursday J had a good entry, bulls coming forward much in excess of advertised numbers. Buyers were available for all L :ie bulls offered, and very good prices were obtained. There is at present a shortage of good grade Shonhorn bulls, the 2 3-year-olds offered on Thursday making £l7 15s and £ls. 63 bulls were sold the prices obtained being as follows: Pedigree Jersey bulls, yearlings 7 to llgns, 2 to 3years 13 to 16gns, 5 to 6 years .9$ to 20gns, aged 7 to Bgns, grade Jerseys 2 and-3, years £8 10s to £9 15s, yearling to 18-month £4 to £4 JOs, pedigree Ayrshires Signs, yearling Shorthorn £6 10s, 2-year grade Kolsteins £9 10s to £ls, 18-month £5 10s to £9, yearlings £3 15s to £5 10s.
