BOTHA AND HERTZOG. Pretoria, October 18. General Hertzog has offered his services in the hope that the .Government will terminate the Maritz rebellion without bloodshed. General Botha replied that he is not negotiating with Maritz. The rebellion could only bo suppressed by force. He warned Hertzog that public opinion demanded immediate public repudiation of Maritz's action by all mentioned in Maritz's ultimatum.
