At a largely-attended meeting of the Gore Citizens' Defence Committee last evening a presentation was made by the Mayor. .Air Mncfarlane, to Lieutenant Bowler, prior to the latter's. departure in charge of the first reinforcements for the New Zealand Expeditionary Force. The Mayor said that the appointment was a compliment to Gore. Lieut. Bowler has been a citizen of Gore for over 20 years, and was closely identified with! its progress. The presentation took the form of an inscribed silver flask and a ease of pipes. Lieut. Bowler' left for the north to-day.
