Sir J. Rose Innes has been appointed Chief Justice, states a cable from Capetown. The report' of the death of the Marchese A. Di San Guiliano, Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs, comes from Rome. The death of Captain Cardinal Sainty, for 29 years pilot for the Auckland Harbor Board, is reported. Sergeant McNeely, of Stratford, has passed the examination qualifying him for a sub-inspectorship of police. The death is announced from Wellington ofMr T. K. Macdonald,the wellknown business man, aetat 67, who haa been ill for several year's past. Mr Macdonald sat in the House for one session and was a member of the Legislative Council for a number of years.
