TWO WRECKS.

POSITION OF THE MANGAPAPA. tPiu Phkm Association.J Wellington, October 13. The Marine Department has ordered that the magisterial inquiry into tne stranding ol the Mangapapa is to be held at Westport as soon as the crew reaches that place. The vessel was partly insured with tlie Queensland insurance Company. The Secretary ot the General Post Office is advised by the postmaster at Karamea as follows : The steamer Mangapapa is now lying broadside on, starboard side to tho sea, deeply embedded in the sand, with the sea breaking over iier. At half tide she was lull of water to the deck. The rudder is broken. The sea is moderating, but there is little prospect of floating her.’ The local agents received advice today to the effect that the Mangapapa was broadside on to the sea, and had sunk up to her decks in the sand. She is full of water, the fore hold being open two inches, while the counter has burst open, and Captain Tainlan is of opinion that the bottom is stove in. The rudder is also broken. Mr A. A. T hompson, manager of the Karamea Steamship Company, who is at present in Wellington, leaves with Mr A. Walker, surveyor for Lloyds at Wellington, at the first opportunity. FOUNDERING OF THE KAIRAKI. Wellington, October 13. Captain Felix Black, of Wellington, and Mr H. H. Hambleton, of Greymouth, have been appointed assessors to assist Mr Evans, S.M., at the inquiry into the foundering of the Kairc.ki. The date has not yet been fixed.
