HOSPITAL BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Stratford Hospital Board was held this morning, there being.present: Messrs J. McAllister (chairman), W. Rogers, E. Walter, A. Meredith, C. D. Solo, J. Smith and J. CHrifetoffel; v REPORTS, The Medical Superintendent (Dr. Steven) reported; 1 beg to report that during September 17 patients, were admitted, fourteen were discharged, and two died. Thirteen remained m hospital at the end of the month. Four operations were performed under anaesthetics. There were three, patients in the isolation ward. As - thq new nurses’ home ia now in.; oqcupatipu, A also beg to recommend, that some ne,w bedsteads be obtained, and, t that the .former nurses’ dining room be. prepared for the reception of patients,—lt ;wa.s decided to procure bedsteads as recommended. The Matron (Miss O’Brien) reported : I resumed duty on Monday, Octq-r ’her* 12th, having taken the remainder of my leave. The nurses are now. living in the nurses’ home, leaving, the vacant rooms in the building ready foi .use when furnished. There is one nurse still in isolation and Nurse Baxter leaves for her holiday 7 ..0n the 14th. The Sanitary Inspector reported for the month, ended October 10th:—Infections diseases: Two cases of scarlet, fever, wore notified in Stratfpid. Borough and, four cases in Stratford County. The disease is in a very mild form. 'Five of the patients were removed tb hospital and the premises disinfected. The other case is isolated at home, and precautions are being taken, against the spread of the disease. Stratford ,Borough.:'One drainage nuisanpewas abated,. Four samples of mills;and six of draught whisky, were purchased,, tinder . in structions from,the District Health,.Officer and forwarded to the Dominion Analyst for analysis. All of the samples complied with the standards in force Hinder regulations under the “Sale of hj’bod and Dtugs Act.” Four hakejhonsos were inspected and each hakleUs bread was weighed! Three brands 'of butter and one brand of tea were 'weighed. The fish shops, fruit shops, and marts were inspected. Acting un'der instructions from the District -Health' Officer, v iliVb’stigatiorfs were 'made in connection with Hie Borough •'w,ater supply, including, a sanitary of .tlie Upper reaches, of the ‘Patea River. Stratford County: One school was inspected. VISIT TO THE HOSPITAL; x Members'of the Board .visited the .hospital before the meeting, spending labout ,aii hour and’a-half in a .thorough /inspection;
