The death of Cardinal Ferrata is reported from Rome. Mr W. I). Anderson i> on a flying visit to Stratford to-day, arriving m town this morning and leaving fer north again this evening. Mr S. Macalister, of Messrs Anderson, Rutherfurd tad AL-.cMiater, received the sad news yesterday afternoon that his notlie who for some if mo past had been in baiieahli. l ad died at Picton. Mr Macaiiste** at one® left by motor car foi Wellington in order to catch the steamer for I’ieton, so that l>e mignt be present at the funeral.
