HICH PRICES FOR STOCK. £PIK PbEM AfIIOO ATIOH. J Invercargill, October 6. At the Wallacetovvn stock sale yesterday there was a keen demand for fat stock of all descriptions. Extra prime fat wethers fetched from 24s to 80s, and prime bullocks realised as high as £2O per head, which is a record for the yards, and equal, to 44s per lOOlbs. Freezing buyers were operating keenly, both for beef and mutton.
NEWTON KING’S HAYMARKET REPORT. I had a full yarding of pigs for my sale held on Saturday last. There was a fair attendance of farmers, though the enquiry was not so brisk as the previous week. Sellers, however, were prepared to accept prices offered. All lines, with the exception of one pen., were cleared under the hammer. I quote:—Slips and weaners 14s to £1 Is, rough and backward 8s to 12s, small stores £1 4s 6d to £1 7s 6d, medium ditto £1 11s to £1 13s 6d, sows £3 to £4 15s, fat sows £2 15s, hens 2s 6d, ducks 2s 6d, calves 2s 6d to 16s, set harness £4 10s, plough £4. I will be offering 3 trucks of timber at my next sale, which will take place on Saturday next.
