A TRIP BEYOND THE CLOUDS.
To-morrow afternoon Mr John Gilchrist will give the second lecture of the series which is now being delivered in His Majesty’s Theatre.' The lecture 1 has the above title. In this lecture the wonders of the telescope will be shown. The great gaseous clouds, which are called Nebulae, and which go in time to make worlds such as ours; the flame storms in the sun, the surface of the moon with its great mountains, plains and the craters of its extinct volcanoes, sun spots, star j clusters, and other features will all be j shown and described by the lecturer. In the moving pictures, the whole of the worlds of our system will be seen in majestic procession round the sun. The moon will be seen causing the water to follow it while it is circling our globe, and the spring and neap tides will be explained. Other moving pictures show the causes of day and night, the seasons, eclipses of the sun and moon, the transit of Venus, and the motions of the earth and moon in their journey round the sun. As tomorrow is a half-holiday, it is expected that a largo number of adults, as well as the boys and girls, will take advantage of this and attend the lecture. In fact this lecture was taken out of its usual order in the series so that adults interested in the greatest science of all would, have the opportunity to attend. At the close of the lecture other moving pictures will be shown, entitled “The Mesmerist,” “Scenes in Klondike,” “A Study in Rats and Mice,” and “Tobogganing in the Alps.”
