TRIP TO THE BAY OF ISLANDS.

At a meeting of the Executive Com. mittee, held at the Diocesan Office, 'Auckland' on the 27th of July, 1914, the following resolution was agreed to“ That as it d e P ends 011 the m,m ‘ her of people Intending to visit the Bay of Islands for Christmas Day, 1914, as to .whether or not satisfactory arrangements can be made with the steamship companies, tbs Bishops of the province be asked toarrange that the general secretary beiflformed by the end of October at the latest of the number of people from their Dioceses likely to make the visit, it being .understood that such people are to he held responsible for the amount of tliejr fare from Auckland. This is necessary, as the steamship companies ’ wjll in a)l probability require a guarantee from the Commission.” In accordance with the above resolution, the Bishop and Staffing Committee, at ft meeting held on Tuesday, September Bth, 1914, arranged that the people of the Auckland Diocese who intend making the trip should send their names direct to the general secretary to the Commission, the Rev. W. H. Wilson, the Vicarage, S. Helier’s Bay, or care of Diocesan Office, Auckland. The resolutions carried at the meeting were as follows: — (1.) That in consequence of the changed circumstances arising frpm the breaking out of war, the Commission, with , groat regret, is obliged to abandon the, proposed Church Congress. % (2.) That the special celebration of Holy Communion at the Cross, on Christmas Day, 1914, should be held as arranged.

(3). That Special Thangsgivings he offered in every Church throughout the Province on Christmas Day, 1911." : ' ' '

- (4.) That the Public.. Meeting in the Town Hall, Auckland, on December 11th, 1914, be held as arranged. (5.) That while the raising of the Thanksgiving Centenary Fund is impossible at presept in consequence of the War, yet, in the opinion of the Commission, it should be proceeded with, if circumstances permit, after the Declaration of Peace.
