PAPEETE BOMBARDED. FRENCH GUNBOAT ZELEE SUNK OFF PAPEETE. [United Press Association.] Paris, October 2. The German cruisers Scharnhorsb and Gniescnau on September 22 sank and disarmed the French gunboat Zelee off Papeete, and disappeared after bombarding Papeete. With respect to the announcement of the bombardment of Papeete byGerman cruisers; the Governor has received information that the gunboat Zelee was destroyed and a considerable portion of the tewn destroyed by shell fire.
