AT KIA-CHAO. GERMAN WARSHIPS PARTICIPATE IN BATTLE OF TSINC-TAO. [United Press Association.) Tokio, September 28. Tbe Japanese casualties at Tsingtao were three killed and 12 wounded. The Japanese bememd the Germans within five miles of Tsing-tao. During the battje on Sunday three German warshipvs bombarded the Japanese right until threatened by Japanese aeroplanes.
SOLD FOR 22 PENCE. GERMAN GUNBOAT BECOMES A MERCHANTMAN. Shanghai, September 29. A German gunboat at Tsing-tao, off the Bund, Canton, at the outbreak of hostilities was entrusted to the chief engineer, as the majority of the ciew bad gone to Tsing-tao. One morning she disappeared, dropped some guns and ammunition overboard, and returned to the Bund where she was sold to a German firm for 22 pence, and is now registered as a merchantman.
