BRUSH WITH A GERMAN MOUNTED FORCE.
Capetown, September 29.
Luheritzhay, with the Rand Light Horse, surprised mounted Germans between Kolmanskop and Gradplatz, and drove them into the arms of the Imperial Light Horse. The latter lost throe killed and four wounded, and the Germans lost five killed.
AFTER GERMAN TERRITORY.

General Botha, addressing his constituents, emphasised that the idea of South Africa remaining neutral was nonsense. He contended that Great Britain had been drawn into a war of defence. It was essential for strategical purposes to take German South-West Africa, who supported the Germans in the Herero rising. They were now armed, and would probably serve on the border. •Johannesburg, September 29. .
The Chamber of Mines donated £30,000 towards ‘the Union of South Africa field hospital.

It is semi-officially stated that the operations in the Cameroous wore as successful as in Togoland. Besides Cocohaach in North Gaboon, and the Duala operations, the AngloFrench forces have already captured the greater part of the territory ceded in 1911.- ' '
