TARANAKI WOOL, SKIN, HIDE AND TALLOW SALE.

MR NEWTON KING’S REPOET. On Tuesday, September 22nd, I submitted a two months’ supply of above produce, the catalogue comprising: 13 bales and 46 sacks wool, 2400 sheepskins, 1360 hides, 3160 calfskins, 13 casks and 50 tins tallow, to a full attendance of buyers. As this was my first' sale since the outbreak of war, vendors will, 1 am sure, consider prices very satisfactory. Record prices were obtained for calfskins. Wool. —Small offering, decline of 3d per lb. All bales passed in. Sheepksins.—Decline ljd to 2d per lb.

Hides.—Demand unsatisfied. Farmers advanced to 3d, per lb. Butchers par to 3d easier. Salfskins.—As anticipated met an ex. cited market and advanced id to 3d per lb.

Tallow. —No casks sold under the hammer. Market very weak. 1 quote:—Wool: Crutchings Id to 33d, fleece ofd, dead 3Jd to sd, pieces 23d, Sheepskins: Medium 3-wools old to 63d, coarse 53d to 6£d, 4-wools 6d to 63d, 3-wools 4d, dead 33d, hoggets CJd, dead and damaged 23d to did, damp 2s 7d to 5s Id, salted £- wools 4s 9d to 5s 6d, shorts 2s 3d to 4s. ,-,f ■

Hides; Ox stout 83d, heavy 7sd tp ,7&d, niediura 7id to Bd, light 7|d to B£d, cow heavy 7|d to B£d, medium 73d, light 73d to B£d, farmers’ heavy 73d to 7fd, light 7§d to 7’d, yearlings light 73d to Sid, heavy 73d to 83d, stags 3id, horse heavy 10s to 12s Od each, 7s to Bs, cut 5s Jd to 7s 6d.

Calfskins: Special heavy 15d per lb, special light 13d to 15d, firsts 113 d to Is, seconds 9d to 113 d, very light 7d to 9d, cut 7d to 9|d, dry 9d, slinks 3d each. Tallow: In tins 14s 3d to 19s Gd.

Horse Hair: Is 3d per lb, cowtails Is 5d per dozen, pigs Is, goats Bd, dog lOd, bones £5 per ton.

My next sale will be held on October 20th, when I expect a large catalogue of calfskins.
