ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.
[Pbb Pkkb« Association.] Wellington, September 27. A fireman named Edward Espa la, belonging to the troopship Maungan u, has been missing since Wednesday, when he was seen sitting on a pile on King’s wharf, apareutly dozing. The police dragged the vicinity to-day, but no body was found. Christchurch, September 28.
Veterinary Surgeon Jos Heill Hatvkes, 40, single, attempted to commit suicide on Saturday by cutting lus throat. He is now in hospital progressing favourably. Hamilton, September 28.
Irene Douch, aged three years, daughter of Andrew Douch, Frankton, wa: playing in a paddock and was kicke-1 by a horse. Her leg was broken and she died a few hours later. At the inquest a verdict of accidental death was returned. Dunedin, September 28.
The body of an unidentified man was found in the bush at Maungatua on Saturday evening and a bottle containing poison was found in a pocket. It is thought that deceased was possibly a Norwegian who had been about the district lately.
