The Board of Trade’s exhibition of German-made toys was a great Success. Unemployed women and girls are being taught to make similar toys. Manufacturers and the potteries are entering into the toy trade.
RETURN OF NON-COMBATANTS.

France and Germany have accepted Switzerland’s offer to act as intermediary in return of women, children, and persons incapable of bearing arms. Austria’s reply is awaited.
Nine cases of Asiatic cholera are reported among the wounded from Galicia.
The Chronicle’s Geneva correspondent states that General von Diemling, commanding the army in Alsace, has been dismissed.

A Belgian court-martial convicted a German infantryman of killing a peasant woman with a bayonet, and another of having stolen jewellery in his possession. Both were executed.
