German Right Turned.

TERRIFIC FIGHTING BETWEEN PERONNE AND St. QUENTIN. FRENCHMEN WITH THE BAYONET I By Eleotbio Telegraph—Copybighxi [United Press Association.] (Received 12.15 p.m.) London, Sepetmbcr ’23. After terrific fighting between Peronne and St. Quentin, the German right appears to have been turned. The Germans occupied Pennine on the 16th, holding a strong position, with hills behind and marshes in front. The French were ordered to take the position at all costs, and they honey-combed the German trenches with their artillery, the guns on the heights causing severe execution among the Frefich. The latter stormed the place, advancing in several narrow columns. They bayoneted the Germans in the trenches and gained the position, the Germans falling back to St. Quentin. French reinforcements arrived and pursued the Germans. In tlie suburbs there was savage street fighting, and the Germans were driven hack until they were ordered to abandon the town. The Germans are now making an effort to retake the town.
