A DARING CHAUFFEUR.
KING ALBERT'S NARROW ESCAPE FROM CAPTURE.
(Received 9 a.m.) London, September 22
The Lille newspaper states tint King Albert had a narrow escape during hour inspection. His chauffeur made towards the German lines. Th. 3 King ordered him to stop, but he continued at full speed, and King Albert shot him. A document was found in 1 is pocket offering one million francs tor the capture of the King.
NEWS OF BRUSSELS.
Ostend, September 21
It is reported that all the Bavarian troops have left Brussels. Some :\vcre court-martialled and shot. It is stated that all the Germans have been sent to France or the Eas; Prussian frontier.
Forty thousand Austrian (?) are occupying Brussels, accompanied by seven heavy siege guns.
GERMANS' ATTACK REPULSED WITH HEAVY LOSS
London, September 21
The Daily Chronicle's Antwerp correspondent reports that the Germans made three desperate but unsuccessful attempts on Saturday and Sunday t.i capture Fort Wallhem, between Malines and Brussels. On the first rjght operations with the heaviest artillery covered an infantry attack upon the entrenched Belgians. B'or i short time while the issue was doubtful, but when the defenders of the fort realised the danger they devastated the German lines, and the attack was finally repulsed with the loss of 1000 men.
Antwerp, September 21
The Germans have expelled from Woiverthem all males over 10 \oav3 )f age. A detachment of German cyclists burned the villages of Tremluo and Ivotselear.
