A WOMAN'S SUGGESTION.
How best to help distress arising out of the great international struggle that is proceeding on the other si'le of the globe has found concrete o.\:wnp!;« in many ways. That the immediate needs of the nations concerned mi'.-t be first and foremost dealt wuh l;o"s without saying, but looking to the future there is room for much v.lnhu:thropic action and s|lf-sacrifice. The shocking desolation of homes, the awful waste and misery, and what is worst, the dire severance of family ties unci the consequent creation ol fatherless and orphans, all make for a problem that statesmen and peoples the world over must settle down to and think hard upon. In this con nection, a suggestion that comes fro.n the heart of the Australian bush will appeal to all. In more ways than it will work for good, being-a step towards a practical solution of the popullating of the Empire's Dominions. jThat it should come from a woman is in itself sufficient guarantee of :*-< practicability, worthiness of suppo t. and humane nature. Writing to he: city sister in Sydney, this mother, hearted pioneer pens the following:— "You have always been very keen on the immigration business. Well, afte> this war is over, or as soon as v.e could get one, my husband and I wdl take "a little fatherless boy and rear him as our own, and I am certain that if it is properly put before the Aus tralian women there is scarcely a family but what would do likewise, an 1, with God's help, rear them to he as brave as the Belgians. We woul 1 take either British, French, or Belgian and the younger the better. Will you take the matter up for us?"
