Details of Di\ Pockley's death at Herbertshohe disclose that ho sacrificed his life for.a wounded companion. As a member of the medical corps be accompanied the landing party. Wben the first encounter' occurred he was attending a wounded sailor. Finding it necessary to send him to the rear ho called a sailor and ordered him to carry his mate to a safer position. To protect this man he took off his Rod Cross coat and wrapped it around him. The doctor, when attending another wounded man, sustained a fatal revolver shot in the chest, allegedly fired by a German officer.
