The Stratford Evening Post WITH WHICH IS INCORPORATED THE EGMONT SETTLER. TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER THE POSER OF POTSDAM.
It is to bo most sincerely hoped that by, some means or another —it' it is; only at" HJF'a' 'candid friend—the Kaiser will be allowed to peruse the speech delivered by Mi Lloyd George to London Welshmen the other day. What people have long thought, Mr Lloyd George has frankly and openly expressed regarding German vandalism and the maniacal bully who poses at Potsdam. It is true that nothing that could bo said regarding the infamy of Germany as revealed by the war would be .too scathing to characterise the unbelievable atrocities and acts of barbarism which have accompanied the murderous march of the bandits, which the world had been taught to believe were the finest soldiers in existence. Wjhat they have done would have been too much even for the gorge of the most savage aboriginal race in the wide world. To every rightthinking man, war must be repugnant, but having entered upon such a wains that in which Russia. Franco and England are now engaged, it must be waged to the bitter end. The illtimed interference of America at this stage is quite uncalled for, and it is more than probable that the statement made by the British press that the movement in America originated sW the hands of powerful GermanAmericans is more than likely. Sane people will entirely agree with the London "Times" when it says that F.i far as Germany is concerned the position is that the Ambassador at Washington "turns with the whine of a half-chastised bully, and declares that 'live and let live' is a policy which Germany wishes the enemy to observe, but the irrevocable resolve of the Allies is not to stay their hands until German militarism, itemise and effects, are destroyed once for all." Every civilised man in the civilised world -a world which to-day Germany stands almost outI B ide—must endorse that sentiment, ft is the spirit which will bring the conflict to a righteous conclusion by the complete victory of the great nations who have joined as Allies to stay the ruthless march of the "roadhogs of Europe."
