HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT.
Wellington, September 21. Following is the High Commissioner’s cable,' dated London, September 19th:—
Mutton.—The market is firmer, partly owing to purchases for the Government. Canterbury (for light weight), heavy weight sjd, North Island 5Jd for light weight, ewes sjd.
Lamb.—The market is weaker' and slightly lower. The demand has considerably fallen on account of high prices. Canterbury twos 6 13-lGd, other than Canterbury- 6|d for light weight of very best quality, 6Jd for fair average quality. Beef.—The market is firmer owing to short supply. Chilled New ZeaI Hid funds 63d, fores d;;d, chilled hinds 7' : d, fires o|d. Mutter.-—The market is quiet for ’ ' quality. The supply falls short of 'bo demand. Danish is steady at *2 ;to 130 s; Siberian (fair demand) IT to 118 s, Australian (small supply coming forward) 110 s to 120 s, Irish Creamery (very, slow) 112 s to 118 s, A’•'’"■ntine-l ifts to 118 s. C rose.—The market is quiet but •toady. Canadian (slow) 71s io 7fts, F iglisb Cheddar (quiet) 70s to 84s. A.i ivker prices for New Zealand butter and cheese' is not quoted this week, as _■> supply iC practically exhausted.
