[Pbb Pbesb Association.! Ashburton, September 20. . At 2.4 b this morning a shop, occupied by M. J. Burgess, bookseller, stationery and fancy goods seller, was completely gutted, and practically tho whole stoflc was entirely destroyed, s A lot of damage was also done to T. (book’s fruit and confectionery shop, and nearly all his stock was destroyed by fire, smoke and water. The front of the shop next the bank, occupied by Robilliard and Sons, watchmakers and jewellers, was also burnt, and considerable damage was done to the stock.
