STEAMER NCAKUTA TWICE FIR ED UPON.
THE CAPTAIN’S PROTEST.

At 12.30 this morning the steamer Ngakuta, on entering the harbour, was twice fired upon by the fort. The first shot was blank, but a shell from the second crossed her bows. The captain stated that in response to the signal he hoisted the proper lights, and he protested that a steamer was not R tramcar and cannot bo stopped immediately.
CORRESPONDENCE FOR MEN OF THE EXPEDITIONARY FORCE.
Correspondence for members of the Expeditionary Forces should be addressed in the following style:—
1. To a member of tbe Advance Detachment: No. 234 Private John Hy. Jones, *A Coy., sth Regiment, Advance Detachment, New Zealand Expeditionary Force, Samoa.
(The words “Advance Detachment” should ho written in larger letters than the rest °f the address).
No. 2. To a member of tho Main Hotly io a similar stylo. While the main body is in New Zealand, the addoss is to be that at which is stationed the unit to which the man is attachment ; and while it is absent from Non Zealand is to be- “Care of G.P.0., Wellington.” The present stations of the units are: Mounted Rides Brigade, Wellington ; Auckland Mounted Rifles, Alexandra Park, Auckland; Wellington Mounted Rifles, Awapuni, Palmerston North; Canterbury Mounted Rifles, Tahuna Park, Dunedin; Field Artillery, Awapuni, Palmerston North ; Divisional Ambulance Column, Horse Artillery, Field Troop and Signal Troop, Awapuni, Palmerston North ; Infantry Brigade, Palmerston North : Otago Infantry Battalion, Tahuna Park, Dunedin ; Auckland Infantry Battalion, Alexandra Park. Auckland ; Canterbury Infantry Battalion, Addington, Christchurch; Wellington Infantry Battalion, Awapuni, Palmerston North; Signal Coy., Awapuni, Palmerston North; Divisional Train, Auckland ; Mounted Brigade Field Ambulance, Palmerston North; Field Ambulance, Auckland.
