Herr von Bethmann-Hollweg, in a statement in the Press, replying to Mr Asquith’s speech, said: “England should have advised Belgium to accept our offer of integrity and indemnity. W,e know France’s plan of attack in the Rhineland, through Belgium. Would England have interfered to protect Belgium against France?”
