Petrog 1, September 16. ' Details of the ussian victory at Krasnek, which followed the failure of the' Austrian aU'ask on the entrenchments at’ Dedj”itzi>, 11 miles from Lublin,-shows that two German divisions' particir ted in the battle. The Austrian position stretched over 17 miles, including several lines of armored entrenchments on the hillside. The Russians broke the Austrian front at Vysoky, a village to the eastward and the Austrians abandoned the whole position, disregard' ll g the« Germans, who retired oh Am ol fighting bravely although they had lost ‘32 guns.

The Russians followed the retreating
Austrians over the frontier. Some of 1 "the r Austrians fought Splendidly, * but others were glad of the opportunity to surrender. The Russians at Alexandrovo captured and court-raartialled a Prussian, Major Presuka, author of the atrocities at Kalisch.
