CORRESPONDENCE.

BETTER LEFT ALONE.

[To Tub Editor STUATFoan Post.]

Sir,—On receiving your valued paper last evening I was clumfounded to read unit at si metting of the Council on Monday evening, some "gentleman" signing liimselr "G. Ford, secretary or the Band," had the impudence to call our .worthy Mayor "Kaiser William." Now 1 think that very unmanly. Just because the Mayor indited a letter to the "Post" calling attention to the fact that the Band were very backward in turning cut to farewell our boys to the front, the Baud secretary gets nasty and writes an insulting letter like Monday night's to the Council. I think, Sir, the Mayor was quite right in standing on'his dignity. Our Mayor has shown himself truly patriotic in every sense of the word. I hope that the Conductor, at least,, had nothing whatever to do with the framing of the letter, as 1 think no gentleman would like it said that he brought his spite out by such petty. methods..—l am, etc., PATRIOTIC.
