Ontario produces a large quantity of potatoes of excellent quality, and in 1913 there were 107,707 acres under crop.

It is also reported that fish are plentiful, so that there should be good 'sp6W available when the fishing season opens.
The School Committee decided last night, on the motion of Mr J. W. McMillan, to write to the Education Board protesting against the closing of the primary school for two weeks to enable the teachers to attend a physical culture school at New Plymouth. Mr McMillan said he did not desire the motion to he construed into condemnation of physical culture —all he desired to do was to protest against the school being closed so soon after the winter holidays and so close to the annual examination.

M.A., is Jois| to hand from the publishers, Mev-r.s Wh'itcombe and Tombs, Ltd. it. is an enlargement if a popular lecture, recently delivered by Mr Carter at Christ's College, who, after a fairly long residence in Germany, is able to speak with some authority. - , On Sunday last in the Foresters' Hall, 3LV H. Victor gave an eloquent .address on "The Goal of Life," before a large and appreciative audience, followed by clairvoyant descriptions of those passed on into spirit life, which we're recognised. At the close of the service an "after circle" was held, many remained, and received encouragement, and proof of the reality of spirit communion. To-morrow nigh't (Thursday), Mr Victor will give an address oh "The Spirit World," illustrated by genuine limelight views of psychic photographs obtained through the mediumship of Mr Wiley, late of Masterton, which shoidd certainly be seen, in order to convey to one's mind the progress that has been made of late, by the great and enlightened scientific minds in their investigation
of psychic and spiritual .phenomena. These slides have never been screened before in Stratford, and will. iio doubt be the cause cf much criticism and j speculation,'and will bo shown for i the last time here. "If you are brain-fagged and run down with your daily labours there's nothing like healthy amusement," re- ' marks the manager of His: Majesty's Theatre. Good pictures and good music combined provide excellent amusement. The programme to-night will include a pretty play by the famous Flying A Company, "Where the Road Forks." There is nothing sensational or blood-curdling in this picture, but a simple story which eveyone Will admire. A nautical film, "Italian-navy of T'~ day," will show that the Italians have ! not been dead" in the past as far as I the navy is concerned. Another fine picture, "Powers of the Air" (drama), introduces the wonders of wireleES telegraphy. "The Reward," a Lubin drama, is something out of the common. Vitagraph's comedians appear mighty strong in "The Life Savers." Everybody knows that the Vitagraph Co. has got the "Punch" in comedies. The. Gaumont Graphic,iJ*Royal Visit to Paris" (4th series),' "Nice Regatta," "Boy Scots Inspected by Baden Powell," "United States Navy at Big Gun Practice," and other interesting views. The orchestra includes "Marifcana" and "Our. Miss Gibbs|" selections.
