RYAN ATTEMPTS SUICIDE. B* Elbotrig TbUMRAVH—<'OPTRIGUI, [United Press iAssooiation.] Sydney, September 9. Ryan, the Eveleigh hold-up convict, attempted suicide in his cell by cutting the arteries of his wrist and ankle with a piece of tin, which he had hidden in his clothing. He was taken to the hospital in a weak condition. GOOD RAINS IN AUSTRALIA. Sydney, September 9.
Good rains have fallen over the greater part of South Australia, and broken the drought which was threatening the failure of the wheat crop.
The continued dry weather in New South Wales and Victoria is causing anxiety to wheat growers.
TROUBLE WITH THE MOORS.

Two Spanish liners were requisitioned at Centa to convey troops to Rio Martin, the Moors having attacked the camps in large numbers.
WRECK OF THE OCEANIC. London, September 10. The White Star liner Oceanic, a merchant cruiser, is a total wreck on the coast of Scotland. All aboard were saved.
COLONIAL WINES. London, September 10. The Brewers' Exhibition has been postponed, but the colonial wine competitions will be held as arranged.
