GERMANY ALARMED AT BRITAIN'S SUGGESSFUL RECRUITING

Danish papers published long extracts from Sir Edward Grey's speech, which created a sensation owing to the contradiction of the news "made in Germany." A leading paper describes Germany's alarm at the success of British recruiting. Another journal announces the promotion of a large, fresh Gorman internal war loan.

A German American who was interviewed states: Krupps are working night and day at gun-making. Forty new Zeppelins are ready for service, embodying a new feature. The Germans claim to have guns by which they are able to bombard Dover from Calais. KAISER WATCHES BATTLE FROM NEAR NANCY. (Received 10.55 a.m.) Geneva, September 9. A Basle telegram states that the Kaiser attended with a small staff and watched the battle on Monday from a hill in the neighbourhood of Nancy. PROFESSORS SURRENDER ENGLISH UNIVERSITY DECREES. (Received 10.55 a.m.) Amsterdam, September 9. Thirty German professors have :<urrendored all degrees and honors conforred on them • by English Universities.
