H.M.S. PSYCHE REPORTS AT AUCKLAND THIS MORNING.

[Per Press Association.] Auckland, September 8

H.M.S. Psyche returned this morning from Samoa. According to Gaptain Marshall, the landing of the troops at Samoa was a particularly smart piece of work. The grounding of the Mouowai was due to the steering gear failing at a critical moment, and the captain of the Monowai was not to blame.

On tiie voyage back, the Psyche called at Varan, where the British and German residents were in perfect friendliness and unaware of the war between the two countries.

The King of Tonga gave an assurance of neutrality.
