GERMAN EVACUATION OF TERMONDE,
(Received 9.0 a.m.) Antwerp, September 6
The Germans evacuated Termonde, burning a number of houses an<J blowing up the northern Scheldt bridge to prevent an offensive movement while operations at Termonde were proceeding. Now they find it impossible to hold Termonde without being cut off from Brussels.
BELGIANS HARASS THE GERMANS.
(Received 8.50 a.m.) Antwerp, September 6
A telegram states that 4000 Belgians with field machine guns and strongly entrenched at Termonde fought 20,000 Germans. The latter suffered heavily owing to the delay in arrival of guns from elsewhere. All Germans and Austrians have been ordered to leave Belgium Vitkin 36 hours, otherwise they will be courtmartialled.
