"IV-iiroa," Mrs Mason Chambers' fine residence on the Havelock hills, was completely destroyed by fire this afternoon. It is supposed that a defective chimney caused the outbreak on the first floor. Only the servants were at home. Nothing was saved. The loss includes a valuable library and collection of curios, which cannot bo replaced. The outbuildings, being of concrete, were saved, and the fire was prevented from spreading to the plantations. Insurances are in tiro Farmers' Mutual, £1750 on the house and £1750 on the furniture. The total loss is estimated at £7OOO.
