AN ARMY OF 300,000 ON A WAR

Mr Hughes, Minister for Defence, has announced to the militia that it is proposed to train a million Canadians to shoot straight at 1000yds' range, and that a force of at least 300,000 will be placed on a war basis throughout tho Dominion.

Tho Government is appealing to farmers to enlarge tho wheat acreage, owing to tho decrease in cultivation in Europe, thus strengthening the Empire in her day of trial.
